Is it worth storing products? This, of course, depends on the ratio of their value and the margin that can be obtained to all storage costs. You should also remember about changes in the value of goods over time – unfortunately, most often we experience a decrease. We discuss the “cost of storage over time” in detail in a separate article.
What else can we do with a product that is already saturated on the market? You can read about preventing unnecessary stock lots in the previous part: Surplus goods – how to get rid of the problem? (part 1) Here we will focus on the pros and cons of various methods of disposing of goods once these surpluses arise. We will look at the strategy of giving away freebies, disposal and resale to intermediaries.
Giving away freebies
On the one hand, to generalize, people, especially us Poles, like to receive bonuses, premiums and freebies. However, do we always value what we get for free? Unfortunately, this is not always the case… To appreciate such a gift, we must either see it as an actual material benefit or feel truly honored (psychological benefit).
Again, it is necessary to have a good knowledge of the needs of our target group or regular recipients. Ill-considered distribution may even harm our relationships with customers, reduce the subjective value of our offer and increase their pressure on our pricing policy in the future.
Costs of disposal of goods
Each industry, and even each product category, has its own rules. For example, profits from scrapping or recycling certain products may turn out to be worthwhile. Other times, disposal will generate additional costs. Some things we can simply throw away to the landfill. However, in addition to your own expenses, it is also worth keeping environmental costs in mind. Especially if products that are not of interest to our customers can be sold through alternative sales channels…
Sale of surplus through intermediaries
Our offer was born out of the needs of entrepreneurs looking for a way to quickly free their warehouse and recover the money invested in products. Just call us and arrange the details, and within 24 hours we will make a purchase decision, organize transport and settle the bill.
This is usually the fastest and – next to sales – the most profitable method of getting rid of surplus goods. The products are not destroyed, but go through us to wherever they will find happy buyers.
